The Modern Woman: Female Perspectives on Art History from 1950-Present

Holly Harmon, instructor

Want to learn more about women artists in a fun forum? This discussion-based course will hone your ability to interpret and analyze modern art. Through our examination of artists traditionally excluded from the canon, we will explore and challenge preconceived notions of gender. Students will be able to discuss works of art, supporting their observations through close looking and visual analysis.

Students will demonstrate understanding of introductory concepts of feminism and gender studies, and an understanding of major movements in art history from 1950-present.

Classes meet April 20 - May 18, Tuesdays 3:00 - 5:00 pm
