Painting Portraits with Colored Pencils

This class builds upon the basics of colored pencil painting to create a complete portrait. Students will explore painterly techniques using colored pencils and applied them to guided weekly exercises. The instructor will discuss the importance of tone, value, and line as they are created with colored pencil. The last two classes will be dedicated to drawing a portrait of the student’s choice, with the instructor’s guidance. Students should have some experience, or have taken Introduction to Painting Portraits with Colored Pencils.

Classes meet at VBMA in Studios 2 & 3, Wednesdays July 14 - August 11, 12:30 - 2:30 pm

$130 (Museum members $105)

*All onsite/in-person classes will adhere to safety protocols as recommended by the CDC. All participants and instructors must have their temperature taken when entering the Museum/Museum Art School. Masks must be worn at all times while on the Museum premises and social distancing measures will be maintained.
