Other dates...

Judy Burgarella

All Levels

Artists work independently in this open studio, bringing their own supplies and references to work from. At the first class, the instructor will offer suggestions on additional supplies students may want to invest in. Instruction and individual guidance will be provided as needed, along with demonstrations of various techniques and helpful tips and tricks. One of the demonstrations is inspired by the VBMA exhibition M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations and students will be guided through the exhibit with the instructor. Any subject matter is welcomed, and the most commonly used mediums such as oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal and graphite will be covered as needed. Also covered will be backgrounds, negative space, soft/hard edges, contrast vs. value, priming and coating, blending and scumbling, perspective, brushes, mixing paints, framing, reducing stress and fear at the easel, measuring tools and helpful gadgets, using the viewfinder, framing, and more. Students are also welcome to bring in projects that need some T.L.C. or upgrading. Judy's motto is: "Everything is fixable, no matter what the medium!"
